This season has been nothing short of a disaster when it comes to the Minnesota Vikings offensive line. Of course, that wasn't supposed to be the case when they spent a boatload of money on it , and invested a first round pick there as well.
Through 14 games we have seen Kevin O'Connell's starting group entirely intact for just two contests, and one of them saw a pair of players leave injured. Last weekend Christian Darrisaw didn't play as he continues to deal with a knee issue.
The head coach isn't worried long term, but it's clearly problematic and now they need reinforcements.

New tackle signed to Minnesota Vikings practice squad
With Christian Darrisaw constantly an uncertainty, and backup Justin Skule having missed time this season as well, the MN Vikings line is in a tough spot. Earlier this season they needed to sign Matt Waletzko while in London to have enough depth for practice. That now again looks to be the case with the addition of Caleb Etienne .

Etienne went undrafted out of BYU and was waived by the Cincinnati Bengals in September. After two years at Oklahoma State he transferred to BYU and finished his collegiate carrer. The 24-year-old stands 6'7″ and is 329 pounds.
Etienne is unlikely to be elevated to the active roster, but his presence isn't exactly heartwarming news for Darrisaw. While the head coach has preached positivity over his future, the current state looks bleak.
O'Connell: "I don't think this is going to be anything that will be a part of his future here. … With time and with the significant injury he had, I do think we're going to be able to put this in the rear view mirror here." (2/2)

The reality is that Minnesota has three games left and are not playing for anything with a 6-8 record . There's little reason for Darrisaw to be out there. That said, his injury occurred more than a year ago, and the path back to full health has been awful.
Since signing his four-year contract extension, Darrisaw has played in just 17-of-31 games for the Minnesota Vikings. That gets even uglier if and when he can't go the rest of the way or is shut down.
The first MN Vikings practice report of the week will be out on Wednesday. Darrisaw's status on that announcement will be the one to watch.
