Vikings select CB Charles Demmings in Round 5 of the NFL Draft

The Vikings took a while to add a cornerback to their 2026 NFL Draft selections, but they found a guy they liked in Round 5 on the third day of the selection process.

With the 163rd pick in the 5th round of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings selected Stephen F. Austin cornerback Charles Demmings.

The FCS All-American was a Senior Bowl player this draft cycle and was one of the first players to earn an invite to the event. The NFL has had its eyes on him for a while, and it turns out to be Brian Flores who decided he is someone he wants on his edgey defense.

Demmings is very much a project for the Vikings, but that is exactly what Flores looks for in his secondary. He has a proven track record of developing cornerbacks in his coaching career, and Demmings has the physical traits to be effective. Now, it is up to Flores to get the rest of the ability out of him.
