We are now just a few days from the NFL trade deadline and the Minnesota Vikings continue to be heavily linked to an offensive move.
Much may hinge on how the Vikings perform on Monday Night Football as they host the Buffalo Bills, but there continues to be speculation that Minnesota may seek to boost its flagging offense by trading for either a quarterback or a running back.
And much of the insider steam continues to center on the Indianapolis Colts, with QB Daniel Jones and star RB Jonathan Taylor the most prominent names.
Speaking Friday , ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said "if there's a quarterback deal to be had, my sense is that Jones wouldn't mind being a part of it."
The Vikings were the first team Fowler mentioned as a possible destination, albeit while acknowledging the team would have a quick turnaround to make a deal happen after MNF.
Taylor appears to be the more likely to be traded, though Fowler says one way that he will for sure leave Indiana is if "somebody offers more than they should." It comes amid insider information that the Colts are looking for a deal similar to the one struck by the 49ers for Christian McCaffrey several years ago, which includes 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th round picks.
For The Athletic , insider Jonathan Jones says he believes Taylor will be on a different team next week, and still ranks the Vikings and Giants "the favorites" to land him, citing anonymous sources.
Jones acknowledges rumors that the Colts had rejected an offer of a 2nd and a 5th round pick last week and may be holding out for a 1st rounder, which is unlikely to arrive. He continues to speculate that the Colts may consider dropping their price if the deadline approaches and no such offer materializes.
But Albert Breer of SI is less positive on the Vikings' prospects of trading for Taylor, saying that although they have inquired and discussed it, they are "a little less inclined to trade for Taylor now," with the Giants appearing to be in the driver's seat.
Breer does note that the Vikings may still be in the market for a defensive tackle ahead of the deadline, though no names are specifically linked to the team.
