KANSAS CITY, Mo. – It was quite the evening for Kansas City Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino , who put on a show for Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic.
Pasquantino hit three home runs vs. Mexico on Wednesday evening, becoming the first ever player to accomplish the feat in the WBC.
Not only did Pasquantino make history, but his performance also helped Team Italy and the United States advance to the quarterfinals of the classic, thanks to a dominant win over Mexico.

This comes just a day after Team Italy notched a surprising win over the U.S.
That game saw outfielder Jac Caglianone belt a two-run homer in the top of the fourth inning to put Team Italy up 5-0 on the U.S. They'd go on to win 8-6.
But those weren't the only Royals taking the WBC by storm. Bobby Witt Jr. probably had the most impressive play of the classic so far, when he made an outstanding diving snag with his left hand before throwing a runner out at first on his knees, drawing a smile from Pittsburgh Pirates phenom pitcher Paul Skenes .
Hopefully for the Royals, this is foreshadowing of what's to come from their key players this season.
