The Virginia Cavaliers signed running back Solomon Beebe out of the transfer portal this past offseason after he played two seasons at UAB. Beebe ran for 419 yards and seven touchdowns in two seasons with the Blazers.
While Beebe could be in the rotation for the Cavaliers in 2026, his status on the team will be in question.
According to the New York Post , Beebe was arrested Monday and charged with three misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals after allegedly punching and smacking his pit bull, per case details viewed by the Post.
The case detailed one incident that took place Aug. 10 with the other two incidents taking place Aug. 12.

According to a housekeeper at the apartment complex where Beebe lives, she saw two different times in which Beebe was violent toward his dog, Jeb, The Daily Progress reported .
"She observed Mr. Beebe hold his dog against the wall and punch his dog with a closed fist multiple times," Justin Gibson, the animal control officer, wrote, "and the dog was yelping in pain with each strike."
Then on the second incident, taking place Aug. 12, Gibson wrote that Beebe "held his dog down and smacked him twice in the face without reason" while in the hallway of the apartment complex.
Following the incidents, authorities took Beebe's dog into protective custody on Aug. 13, The Daily Progress learned.
The University of Virginia declined comment on the matter: "The University does not comment on matters involving ongoing criminal proceedings or student records," the university said, per 247 Sports

Head coach Tony Elliott said Beebe is in the mix
According to reports, Beebe was at practice Monday with the team. And head coach Tony Elliott said he was in the mix in both the return game and in the running back rotation.
"He showed immediately that he can play running back and be a really good one," Elliott said Monday. "So he's in the rotation there, which requires a lot to play for us. And then in the return game, he's already shown what he can do there."
The Cavaliers will also lean on transfers Peyton Lewis and Jekail Middlebrook at running back this season.
