Von Miller is finally coming home. The NFL's active sack leader just signed a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys , returning to the DFW area where he grew up. He's 37 now and heading into his 15th season, so Dallas plans to use him strictly as a situational pass rusher on third downs, the same role Jadeveon Clowney filled a year ago.
Even with limited playing time in Washington last season, Miller proved he can be impactful. He only played 37 percent of the defensive snaps but still racked up nine sacks, his best performance since 2021.

That high-efficiency production caught Jerry Jones' eye. Miller is ready to chase quarterbacks this year, but he's already planning his next move, and it's not retirement to the couch.
Von Miller details front-office ambitions at Cowboys facility
Speaking with reporters at the Cowboys' facility, Miller shared his plans to stay in football once his playing days end but in the front office, not on the sideline.
"That's something that I want to do when I'm done playing football as well, whether that's director of pro personnel, team president, assistant GM, GM," Miller said . "I want to be in the front office in any capacity, and Will McClay has done an incredible job of showing that when it's not X's and O's or getting to know teammates, it's just getting to know the job as well."
Miller has already put in groundwork toward that path. In 2023, while with the Buffalo Bills, he attended the NFL Scouting Combine and followed general manager Brandon Beane, asking questions and taking notes on how personnel departments operate. He credited multiple executives for pushing him toward that track.

"I've had a lot of guys in the front office that have kind of fanned that flame, whether it was Brandon Beane in Buffalo or Adam over there with the Commanders," Miller said. "And now Will has done an incredible job of kind of fanning that flame and getting me to live a triple dream here with the Dallas Cowboys."
But trying to get a front-office job in Dallas means dealing with Jerry Jones. The 83-year-old has run the team since 1989, and he isn't stepping down anytime soon. Plus, his kids — Stephen, Charlotte, and Jerry Jr. — already run the whole show. There really isn't much room for an outsider like Miller to slide in.
