Walker Buehler says quiet part out loud about Padres performance appeared first on ClutchPoints . Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here .
The San Diego Padres were just looked at as a threat to the Los Angeles Dodgers about a week ago, but a recent losing streak has knocked them down to third place in the NL West. The Padres are coming off getting swept in their series against the Philadelphia Phillies , and the good news is that they'll be able to get revenge on their upcoming road trip.
Before that, Walker Buehler spoke about the Padres' recent performance and said the quiet part out loud.
"We're a big momentum-based team, and playing against the Padres for as long as I have, that's part of the DNA here. We catch momentum, have a good road trip, and hopefully do the same thing to them at their place," Buehler said.
That momentum has helped them for most of the season, even with their offense not being the best. The Padres are in the bottom half of the league in runs scored and slugging, and that's something they'll have to get fixed as the season continues.
Some would want to point the finger at hitting coach Steven Sousa Jr., but Craig Stammen says that it's on the players for the lack of success in that department.
"In my opinion, it has nothing to do with him," Stammen said. "This is the Padres hitting. This is the Padres organization. How we go about taking at-bats, it's on all of us, and more specifically on me."
It'll be up to the players to find a consistent rhythm, and the hope for them is that they can get it going on their road trip.
