- Warriors Bring Back Former 2025 Draft Pick for Training Camp
The Golden State Warriors haven't done much in terms of adding star-level talent to their roster this offseason , but that doesn't mean they haven't been able to make supplemental moves to help the roster.
With the regular season fast approaching and training camp coming up sooner than that, the Warriors have been making moves to add prospective young talent to their extended roster and have more options to audition in training camp before the season fully gets underway.

The latest move in that effort was signing 2025 second-round pick Alex Toohey to an Exhibit 10 contract, a one-year non-guaranteed contract, ahead of training camp to get a better look at the 6'7 forward, per a report from Anthony Slater .

Toohey's History
Toohey briefly played for the Santa Cruz Warriors, Golden State's G-League affiliate, last season to moderate success. In just two games, Toohey averaged 7.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1,0 assists and 2.0 steals in 19.5 minutes per game while shooting 35.7% from the field and 40% form three point range.
His brief stint in the G-League was due to a season-ending knee injury that Toohey suffered, which subsequently led to him being waived by the Warriors, but a second-chance clearly shows that what he offered before his injury piqued the Warriors' interest.

His overall offensive numbers may leave some things to be desired, but Toohey's three point shooting ability and his steal numbers stand out as seeds of future talent for the Warriors to cultivate.

How Toohey Can Help Warriors
For a team as bereft of dependable forwards as the Warriors are, holding on to options like Toohey with the upside that he presents is a smart move in the right direction.
Nothing is guaranteed for Toohey's future of course, as is the nature of his Exhibit 10 contract, but a solid training camp performance could move the needle enough that the Warriors could roster him for next season, or at least sign him to another G-League contract and keep him around to further oversea his development.

The Warriors have already had one look at Toohey this year in Summer League, where he averaged 7.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. His efficiency was down in Summer League, which could be an indication of some form of post-injury hangover, but more reps from him would give the Warriors a clearer picture of what they have to work with.

There's little risk to the Warriors if Toohey doesn't end up impressing in training camp, but should he shake off the rust and get back to his old self, the Warriors could have a real rising talent on their hands.
