Questions surround the Golden State Warriors franchise, as the futures of head coach Steve Kerr, point guard Stephen Curry , and power forward Draymond Green are up in the air. On Wednesday, Green hinted at his plans, albeit it was a joke, by taking a hilarious jab at Charles Barkley .

During a segment of “ESPN Tip-Off,” Green was filling in for Shaquille O’Neal’s spot on the panel. The group was conversing about players in the league playing well into their late 30s, and the Warriors’ 36-year-old forward took the opportunity to zing Barkley about his playing days with the Houston Rockets late in his career.

“I think the goal is to just not look like you on the Houston Rockets,” said Green after Barkley claimed nobody wins in the NBA in their late-30s. “[That] is ultimately the goal for us.”

To be fair, Barkley’s final three years in the league were when his numbers started dipping in comparison to his career averages. In his four total years playing with the Rockets, Charles Barkley averaged 16.5 points, 12.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.1 steals per game with a 48.2% field goal percentage. Not quite the superstar he was, but certainly not a bum either.

For comparison’s sake, Draymond Green is nowhere near the scorer that Charles Barkley was, nor is he as efficient on the glass. The Warriors star has been more of a glue guy, who plays strong defense while helping facilitate ball movement on offense. Meanwhile, Barkley was the face of the franchise for nearly every team he played on throughout the majority of his NBA career.

At the end of the day, Green’s career status remains up in the air alongside Kerr and Curry. While the jab was all fun and games, the 14-year veteran has a big decision to make this offseason. Either way, prime Draymond Green vs. prime Charles Barkley would be a fun matchup to watch.
