- Warriors Player Criticizes Suns’ Fake Toughness After Draymond Green-Dillon Brooks Scuffle

The Golden State Warriors turned a 17-point deficit into a three-point nail-biting 116-113 win over the Phoenix Suns on Monday, November 2. Draymond Green was ejected after receiving back-to-back technical fouls following an incident with Khaman Maluach that led to a heated scuffle with Dillon Brooks.

Later in the fourth quarter, the Warriors' player Charles Bassey also got into it with Jalen Green . Miles Bridges of the Suns intervened to shove Bassey, but Brandin Podziemski stepped in to defend his teammate before officials separated both sides.

After the win, Charles Bassey, Green's teammate on the Warriors, spoke during the sideline interview about the scuffle that fired up the Warriors to cut a 17-point deficit late in the second quarter, making the game close before they stole the win down the stretch.
"To be honest, man, I play hard. I'm always going to be there for my teammates. Of course, when things get heated like that, you still have to stay composed. Stay in the game," Bassey said.
"Don't let all that stuff take you out of the game. Sometimes, it's fake toughness, and I just have to make sure I stay in the game, stay focused on my team, and compose myself whenever that stuff happens."
"As I said, Green and I got into it, but it's about staying composed and moving on to the next play, having the next-play mentality. Just the next play," Charles Bassey further added.
Since Draymond Green was ejected, Charles Bassey, who has yet to carve out a regular role in the Warriors' rotation, used this opportunity to step up and show the team he deserves a regular role.
He finished the game with 19 points, eight rebounds, and one assist while shooting 7-10 from the field (70.0% FG). Even during the postgame press conference , Bassey commented on the Suns' fake toughness.
"Yeah, I mean, as I said, it was all fake because being physical doesn't mean you have to scuffle with guys. That doesn't mean you're tough," Bassey said.
"Being physical is playing hard every possession, going out there and fighting for rebounds, and doing what I'm doing. That's being physical: challenging every shot and going out there when two or three guys are trying to box me out on the offensive end, but still getting the rebound."
"What they're doing is fake toughness, man. As I said, me and Green were going for the ball, and then I think Miles came and just pushed me. You don't have to do that. But like I said, it's all fake. He's not doing that outside, though. But it's good. We got the win," Bassey concluded.
Bassey's performance was arguably one of the biggest positives from the Warriors' comeback win. With Draymond Green ejected, the big man seized his opportunity and delivered when his team needed him most.
If he can maintain this level of production and physicality, Bassey could make a strong case for a consistent role in Steve Kerr's rotation. But it remains to be seen if this performance gets him more minutes in the future.
