- Washington football loses two starting receivers to injury
After losing the top two running backs on the depth chart against Washington State, the Washington Huskies are now down two of their three starting wide receivers.
According to a report from ESPN's Pete Thamel, Kennesaw State transfer Christian Moss will be out for 2-3 months after suffering what Jedd Fisch called a soft-tissue injury on the first play of the Apple Cup. The fifth-year senior remained on the field for one more play against the Cougars before coming off and was not spotted on the sidelines in Washington's Week Two win over Utah State.
After a strong fall camp, the Huskies had high hopes for Moss as the isolated X receiver in place of Denzel Boston, but they will now turn to true freshman and former four-star recruit Jordan Clay in his stead, who hauled in 4 catches for 42 yards against the Aggies.
However, the bad news doesn't stop there for Washington's receiving corps, as wide receiver Rashid Williams is also week-to-week with an undisclosed injury.
"I don't think it's anything that will miss substantial time," Fisch said on Saturday. "But he could miss some time."
Add cornerback Emmanuel Karnley to that discussion, who Thamel also reported is week-to-week. The fourth-year Virginia transfer appeared to pull up awkwardly on Utah State wide receiver Javon Robinson's 78-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter and returned to the sideline dressed in street clothes for the second half.
