- Washington football starting center to miss remainder of 2026 season
2026 has been a year of bad luck on the injury front for Washington Huskies center Landen Hatchett.
After dealing with a broken scaphoid bone in his wrist that caused him to miss the entirety of spring and fall camp, along with the first five games of the regular season, his season has come to an end after two games. On Monday morning, the senior and team captain took to Instagram to announce that he sustained a head/neck/spine injury and will turn his focus to recovering for his fifth year of eligibility in 2027.

In a year where Jedd Fisch's team has suffered a plethora of injuries on the offensive side, Hatchett's is a big blow after the Huskies rushed for a season-high 186 yards in a 38-26 win over Purude ahead of their bye week and finally looked like they were gaining some confidence up front.
"I thought Landen did a great job making all the calls for us," Fisch said of the fourth-year during his bye week press conference.
"He did a great job of keeping the group together, confidence, did a really good job blocking, shade, and on top of that, you just felt his leadership on the field, you felt his leadership on the bench, you felt his leadership all week long, challenging the boys, challenging me, challenging the group of 'Hey coach, we can do this, believe in us, believe in this group, and just continue to give us this opportunity.' And he was a tremendous advocate for his offensive group and for the running game."

In his stead, Sam Houston State transfer Kolt Dieterich will likely shift back inside to center, which could cause some shuffling along Washington's offensive line. Against the Boilermakers, Dieterich took some reps at left guard while John Mills split his time between left guard and left tackle in a rotation with Kodi Greene as Landen's older.
