Washington freshman point guard JJ Mandaquit plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. Mandaquit is a three-time gold medal winner with Team USA and a former Top 50 overall recruit.

Mandaquit signed with the Huskies as a four-star prospect and the No. 6-ranked point guard in the 2025 recruiting cycle out of Utah Prep (Hilo, Hawaii), where he was also the No. 4 player in the state and No. 49 player overall according to the Rivals Industry Ranking , a weighted average of all three major recruiting media services. He’ll have three seasons of collegiate eligibility wherever he lands.

Mandaquit averaged 5.2 points and 3.2 assists in 19.6 minutes per game as a true freshman, appearing in 22 games with six starts. His best scoring game came in mid-January when Mandaquit dropped a season-high 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range, against Big Ten rival Michigan on Jan. 14.

Prior to landing at Washington, Mandaquit won three gold medals while playing for Team USA, including at both the 2025 U19 and 2024 U17 FIBA World Cups. He also won gold at the 2024 FIBA Americas U16 Championship.

Mandaquit is the second member of Washington’s 2025-26 roster to enter the transfer portal since the end of the season, joining Courtland Muldrew. The Huskies failed to make the postseason this past season after finishing 16-17 overall, but just 7-13 in Big Ten play. That included a season-ending 85-82 loss to Wisconsin in the second round of the 2026 Big Ten Tournament on March 12.
