Washington Nationals Call Up Reliever for MLB Debut

After an off day on Thursday, the Washington Nationals are set to return to the field for a six game road trip beginning Friday night, yet the team announced another round of roster moves ahead of first pitch, including another prospect now set to make his MLB debut.
The Nationals announced that they have selected the contract of right handed pitcher Jack Sinclair, becoming the latest to make his debut after Yohandy Morales and Jared Simpson did the same .

Sinclair, 27, arrived in the Nationals organization after becoming a 16th round pick in the 2021 Draft before starting his professional career bouncing between Single and High A before being promoted to Triple A Rochester beginning in 2023. He's spent the entirety of his 2026 season in Rochester where he has tossed 74 strikeouts over 60.1 innings while owning a 1.36 WHIP and 4.03 ERA. He also owned a .222 opponents batting average while owning a 6-2 record with one save, while his 74 strikeouts ranked second within the organization's relievers. Through his career, Sinclair owns a 3.61 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with a 25-18 record across 60.1 innings.
To make room for the move, the Nationals announced that right handed pitcher Max Kranick has been designated for assignment in what marks the latest reshuffling of the struggling relievers.
Through 17 games, Kranick owned a 9.33 ERA with 11 strikeouts against 19 earned runs and 27 hits allowed. He posted a career-worst -0.8 WAR as a National, while he allowed eight earned runs over his last 1.2 combined innings pitched. The right hander arrived in the organization after signing back on May 1 following 24 appearances with the New York Mets last season. Across four seasons and 52 career games, Kranick owns a 5.55 ERA and 1.53 WHIP.
The Nationals also left handed pitcher Tom Cosgrove has officially cleared waivers and has been assigned to Triple A Rochester. Cosgrove was designated for assignment two days ago after the Nationals recalled James Wood following his two rehab appearances, marking the departure of another struggling reliever.

Washington is set to face the Los Angeles Dodgers for a three game series set to begin on Friday night. Jackson Kent will look to pick up his second career win when he takes the mound with Dodgers pitcher Blake Snell set to throw out first pitch, set for 10:10 PM. Washington will then stay in California to face the San Diego Padres for a three game series beginning Monday.
