VITALS:
The Heat and Clippers meet for the first of two matchups this regular season. Last season, Miami swept the series, 2-0. The Heat are 41-34 all-time versus the Clippers during the regular season, including 22-15 at home and 19-19 on the road. The Heat are coming off a blowout loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. This is the second of five-game, West Coast road trip. After winning their first game of the season, the Clippers have lost six straight. They are still reeling from the Kawhi Leonard that cost them plenty of money and draft picks. Some are saying the saga could impact for many years to come. The bright spot has been the play of guard Darius Garland, who is averaging 20.1 points and 6.6 assists this season. Derrick Jones Jr., has made his way into the Clippers' starting lineup. He got his NBA start with the Heat during the 2018-19 season with the Heat. He later won the Slam Dunk contest in 2020 in Chicago. Before the Leonard turmoil, the Clippers completed a historic turnaround last season, becoming the first team to move above .500 after falling 15 games below .500 in the same season. Guard Keaton Wager has been one of the league's top rookies so far. He is averaging 12.1 points and 4.4 rebounds after being drafted out of the University of Illinois. Heat center Bam Adebayo became the all-time franchise leader in total rebounds on October 28 at Atlanta. He is now the all-time rebound leader in total rebounds and defensive rebounds and is just 38 offensive boards from tying Rony Seikaly for the third-most in team history.
LAST MEETING:The Heat defeated the Clippers 140-123 last December. Norman Powell led the way with 30 points for Miami while Kawhi Leonard had 36 for the Clippers. Powell was among the casualties in free agency. He is now with the Chicago Bulls.
