Dusty May was very emotional after leading the Michigan Wolverines to a 69-63 win over the UConn Huskies in the national championship game of the 2026 NCAA Tournament on Monday night.
May completed the eighth season of his head coaching career, his second with the Wolverines. He first enjoyed an incredible stint with the FAU Owls, leading them to the 2023 Final Four in historic fashion. This time, he reaches the mountaintop in his second Final Four appearance beating Arizona and UConn to earn his first national title.
May reflected on the achievement after the game on the TBS broadcast. He was thankful for everyone within the program who put forth all of their effort to helping Michigan have the greatest opportunity to go for the championship.
"First of all, I want to thank all the people that poured into everyone in our locker room. We're not here without the love, support and coaching from everybody before us," May said.
