Cougar fans — It's time! BYU Football kicks off the 2026-27 season at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Saturday night against the Utah Tech Trailblazers.
Saturday will be just the second time the in-state teams have met, with the first coming back in 2022, also in Provo. BYU defeated Utah Tech by a final score of 52-26.
Utah Tech hails from the FCS, while BYU is opening up its 4th season in the Big 12. ESPN's Matchup Predictor gives the BYU Cougars a 99 percent chance of winning the game.
The Cougars have played in 20 matchups with FCS opponents and are a perfect 20-0. BYU has a 9-1 record in season openers under Coach Kalani Sitake. After Saturday, BYU has 11 regular season games slated.
