Tour de France 2026 concludes today with Stage 21, a flat 89km procession from Thoiry in northern France eastwards to the Champs-Élysées in Paris. The route features just 1,000m of elevation gain, with the Côte du Pavé des Gardes (700m at 9.7%) and three run-ins with the Côte de la Butte Montmartre (1km at 6.5%) standing as the biggest obstacles.

Stage 21 traditionally serves as a triumph for the GC leader, which means that – barring a race-ending crash – Tadej Pogacar will win a record-equalling fifth TdF title today, and draw level with Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault and Miguel Indurain.
It's almost impossible to contemplate Pogacar not breaking every major Tour de France record going, including Mark Cavendish's haul of 35 stage victories.
Jonas Vingegaard is conspicuous by his absence from the peloton, having fractured his collarbone in a crash towards the end of Stage 15, when he was second in the GC standings behind only Pogi. Vinge had been woken up at 2am on the day for a doping test, shortly before his rival, a brutal practice that's attracted fierce criticism.
It was a cruel way for his race to end, and it means the 2026 edition of the Tour de France will be the first since 2020 not to end with Pogacar and Vingegaard on the top two steps of the podium. Florian Lipowitz, who finished third last year, has also dropped out after breaking his collarbone in a crash during Stage 16.

Olympic road and time trial champion Remco Evenepoel has filled the gap left by Vingegaard, albeit 6 minutes and 26 seconds off Pogacar's pace.
