Who a person truly is cannot be seen with the eye.Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Season 4, Episode 4
Who are the Huskies this year? With all of the injuries I don't think that we've seen what this team is capable of yet. What will the team look like the rest of the season? Will it continue to improve with Elijah Brown at QB? Or will it not even make a bowl game? Maybe we will start to get answers on Saturday.
UW is getting some sad injury news as Landen Hatchett announced that he will not be able to play the rest of the season. If he's able, however, he does have one more year of eligibility.
With Landen out, the offensive line will be forced to reshuffle again . Fortunately, it is likely going to be a case of going back to what it was before Landen returned, so we should see Kolt Dieterich back at center, Kodi Greene, who Coach Fisch said had his best game against Purdue, John Mills at left guar, Champ Taulealea at right guard, and Drew Azzopardi at right tackle. Geirean Hatchett is expected to be able to come in a provide depth at either guard position.
On the positive injury side, running back Jayden Limar has been able to practice after being injured in the Apple Cup. And Trey Cooley should also be back. "Looks like Cooley will be back," Fisch said during his Monday press conference. "He had that shoulder situation at the end of the game, but he'll be back. He was able to practice yesterday. Jayden Limar has been able to get some practice reps, so we'll see what that looks like, but we're able to get him back into the equation."
A couple of the UW coaches and a few of the players met with the media on Tuesday.
Coach Walters talked about his experience playing in Lincoln as a player and as a coach (he won there while as the DC at Illinois). He talked about the challenge of playing against Nebraska's QB, Anthony Colandrea. "He's the most challenging quarterback that we will have faced to date." Dawgman has a ($) transcript .
Coach Switzer talked the guys on the offensive line and how they are doing including Kodi Greene, Kolt Dietrerich, John Mills, and Drew Azzopardi. He mentioned that there has been a lot of communication about Drew with NFL scouts. Dawgman has a ($) transcript.
Zaydrius Rainey-Sale and Jacob Manu were the players from the defense that met with the media. They talk about the win over Purdue and just trying to improve. Dawgman has a transcript (free).
Rashid Williams and Drew Azzopardi with the offensive players that met with the media. They talk about the difference between having Elijah Brown or Demond Williams at QB ("glad to have both"). Dawgman has a transcript (free).
The Seattle Times looks at the best and worst case scenarios for the rest of the season. Andy Yamashita makes a case for UW winning all of their remaining games. He also makes a case for losing all of the remaining games. He thinks that UW has a realistic chance to win 2 of their next 3 games.
The game time for the Penn State game (next home game) will not be set until this weekend, but we know that it will start at either 12:30 or 1:15.
Three Husky freshmen are on the 247Sports midseason true freshman All-America team: Kodi Greene, Jeron Jones, and Derek Colman-Brusa.
Hunter Green leads the Big Ten in punting average, and is 5th nationally.
UW Volleyball is hosting Twilight Night this Friday as UW hosts Iowa at 7 PM. You can get pictures taken with (cutouts of) Edward and Jacob. Fans 12 and under can trick-or-treat on the concourse. And there will be a meet-and-greet with the UW Men's Basketball players.
UW Women's Basketball's Avery Howell has been named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale preseason watch list. She was one of 20 players named on the watchlist which recognizes the top shooting guard in NCAA D1 Women's Basketball.
Jake Goetting was named Big Ten Freshmen of the Week in Men's Soccer. He scored the game-winning goal in UW's win over Michigan. With that win, UW clinched a spot in the Big Ten Men's Soccer Tournament.
