Week 9 FLEX rankings outlook

Miami Hurricanes wide receiver Malachi Toney (1) celebrates after scoring a touchdown against the Pittsburgh Panthers | Sam Navarro-Imagn Images
White moves up from FLEX3 to FLEX1 after carrying 20 times for 174 yards and two touchdowns in the 49-39 win at Navy. He also caught four passes for 58 yards, and his 59-yard run with 9:38 left put the game away. The former West Virginia standout has run for a touchdown in nine straight games going back to the 2025 opener with the Mountaineers, and his 11 rushing scores this season tie for sixth in FBS.
Florida Atlantic gives up 275.7 rushing yards per game, last in the country, along with 38.0 points per game.
Toney stays at FLEX2 after he set Miami's single-game receptions record with 16 catches for 194 yards and three touchdowns in a 52-23 win over Pittsburgh. Miami coach Mario Cristobal said, "There's not a guy in the country that's more dependable than Malachi Toney." North Carolina allows 224.7 passing yards per game.
Duke's Nate Sheppard slides from FLEX1 to FLEX3 after Virginia held him to 55 rushing yards on 15 carries. The sophomore still won the 19-16 game for Duke with a 28-yard touchdown pass to Brody Keefe with 1:14 left. Virginia coach Tony Elliott said the trick play "was well designed because they got their best player with the ball in his hands." Boston College allows 165.0 rushing yards per game, 89th nationally.
Messer, Legree, Missouri's Jamal Roberts and Stevenson fill FLEX4 through FLEX7. Southern Miss' Steven Robinson makes the biggest jump of the week, from FLEX144 to FLEX8.

Who leads the QB rankings?

Louisville Cardinals quarterback Lincoln Kienholz (3) celebrates his touchdown run with the Cardinals mascot during the first half against the Syracuse Orange | Rich Barnes-Imagn Images
Louisville's Lincoln Kienholz debuts at QB1 after a bye. The Ohio State transfer threw for 310 yards and ran for two touchdowns in a 34-26 win at Syracuse, and his 82-yard scoring run is now the longest by a quarterback in Louisville history. "I take pride in it. I try to run hard, don't run scared ," Kienholz said.
Stanford allows 39.6 points per game, 134th nationally, and 284.6 passing yards per game.
Army's Cale Hellums climbs from QB4 to QB2. The Tomball, Texas, native carried 30 times for 121 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-35 win at Tulsa, and two of those scores came on fourth-and-1. His 16 rushing touchdowns lead FBS. Memphis allows 179.6 rushing yards per game, 103rd nationally.
Notre Dame's CJ Carr debuts at QB3 coming off the Fighting Irish's bye. He has 16 touchdown passes and one interception, while Navy allows 264.0 passing yards and 31.5 points per game.
Navy's Jackson Gutierrez falls from QB2 to QB30 even after running for 228 yards against North Texas, because Notre Dame allows just 13.4 points per game, third nationally.

Week 9 RB rankings outlook

Missouri Tigers running back Jamal Roberts (20) runs the ball as Texas A&M Aggies safety Marcus Ratcliffe (3) makes the tackle | Denny Medley-Imagn Images
Roberts debuts at RB3 after Missouri's bye. The St. Louis native has 867 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 167 carries, with games of 211 yards against Florida and 222 against Texas A&M before Ole Miss held him to 39. Ahmad Hardy, who led the SEC in rushing last season, still hasn't played this season, so Roberts keeps the lead role.
Arkansas allows 162.2 rushing yards per game. Before the Tennessee game, Razorbacks defensive coordinator Ron Roberts said, "My God, I'm gonna throw up in the press box if they rush for 200."
Robinson jumps to RB4 after running for 145 yards and three first-half touchdowns on 22 carries in a 35-31 win over Louisiana. UL Monroe allows 234.5 rushing yards per game, 134th nationally, along with 37.2 points per game.
Oklahoma State's Caleb Hawkins moves from RB11 to RB5 against an Iowa State defense that allows 166.2 rushing yards per game. Utah's Wayshawn Parker and Boise State's Dylan Riley follow at RB6 and RB7.

WR rankings outlook for Week 9

Oregon State Beavers wide receiver Jesse Legree (12) celebrates his touchdown against the Colorado State Rams | Andrew Rydland-Imagn Images
Toney holds WR1, and Messer climbs from WR9 to WR2 after scoring five touchdowns in a 51-49 win over Rice. The junior from Louisville, Ky., caught 12 passes for 162 yards and two scores, ran for two more touchdowns and returned a punt 82 yards for the longest punt return touchdown in Florida Atlantic history. His five touchdowns tied the program's single-game record. North Texas allows 33.3 points per game, 114th nationally.
Legree debuts at WR3 after Oregon State's bye. The Baltimore native leads the nation with 1,040 receiving yards and 14 touchdown catches, he has topped 100 yards in all seven games and he re-signed with the Beavers for 2027 during the off week. "Coach Shephard, coach [Mitch] Dahlen and coach [Mike MacIntyre] are going to turn us into a national powerhouse ," Legree said. Fresno State allows 213.6 passing yards per game.
Stevenson climbs from WR14 to WR4 after catching eight passes for a career-high 209 yards and two touchdowns at Navy. He has scored in four straight games, and North Texas coach Neal Brown said the senior has " turned into the player we thought he could be." Florida Atlantic allows 190.2 passing yards per game, 30th nationally, so Stevenson's ranking depends more on the 38.0 points per game the Owls give up.
Florida Atlantic's Kelby Valsin and Illinois' Collin Dixon round out the top six. Rutgers' KJ Duff drops from WR2 to WR16 against Michigan.

Louisiana Tech Bulldogs tight end Eli Finley (84) catches the ball against the Baylor Bears | Chris Jones-Imagn Images
Louisiana Tech's Eli Finley moves from TE3 to TE1 after a career-high 10 catches for 128 yards and a touchdown in a 26-0 win over Old Dominion. South Alabama allows 264.0 passing yards and 35.5 points per game.
Memphis' Hunter Tipton rises from TE7 to TE2 against an Army defense that allows 247.3 passing yards per game. Tipton posted nine catches for 229 yards against UNLV earlier this season and earned John Mackey Award Tight End of the Week honors.
Oklahoma's Rocky Beers moves up from TE4 to TE3 against South Carolina, while TCU's Kari Ashley slips from TE2 to TE5 against Kansas.

Team defense outlook
North Dakota State claims the No. 1 spot against UTEP. The Bison allow 14.3 points per game, while the Miners average 252.2 yards per game, 137th nationally.
Indiana ranks second against Minnesota. The Hoosiers allow 13.7 points per game, fifth nationally, and the Golden Gophers rank 127th in total offense at 293.7 yards per game.
