Weverton misses Grêmio in BR round to join Brazil squad
Goalkeeper Weverton , called up for the 2026 World Cup, is confirmed to feature in three of Grêmio's next four matches.
The player will report on the date required by the Brazilian national team and will miss the tricolor side's final Brazilian Championship match before the break for the World Cup.

Grêmio's board considered asking the CBF to release the player for the match against Corinthians, scheduled for May 30. The request will not be made, and the goalkeeper will report to Granja Comary, in Teresópolis, on the 27th, in line with the national team's official schedule. The date of the Brasileirão match comes before the friendly between Brazil and Panama, which takes place on the 31st at the Maracanã.
Upcoming matches and a goalkeeping issue
Weverton is available to play in the following matches at the Arena do Grêmio:
05/20: Grêmio vs. Palestino (Copa Sudamericana)
05/23: Grêmio vs. Santos (Brazilian Championship)

05/26: Grêmio vs. Montevideo City Torque (Copa Sudamericana)
The starting goalkeeper's absence against Corinthians creates a problem for the coaching staff. His immediate backup, Gabriel Grando , suffered a fracture to a finger on his right hand and is only expected to return after the World Cup.
The spot in the starting lineup should go to Thiago Beltrame. The 22-year-old player, developed in the club's youth academy, has only played in the Copa FGF and has yet to make his debut for Grêmio's first team.
