Where does DeVonta Smith rank in Eagles' pecking order for a new contract?

The Eagles are loaded with Superstars on offense after watching several players sign extensions. Is it time for DeVonta Smith to land a new contract? Since signing a three-year, $75 million extension in April of 2024, Philadelphia has given new money to A.J. Brown , Lane Johnson , Zack Baun (free agent), and Jordan Davis.

During a recent sitdown with Anthony Gargano, EJ Smith of PHLY Sports raised the idea that Smith deserved new money. Smith recorded 240 catches for 3,178 yards and 19 touchdowns over his first three seasons with Philadelphia. Smith shattered the Eagles' rookie record for receiving yards (916) in 2021, surpassing a mark previously held by DeSean Jackson, and established a team record for single-season receptions by a wide receiver (95) in 2022.

At the time of the signing, Smith was in the top seven of highest paid receivers in the NFL. Since that deal was signed, he's been eclipsed by several new deals around the league and now sits at 16th on the list according to Over The Cap, while A.J. Brown remains in the top six.

The 1,841 yards is 21st in the NFL since that time, and his 145 catches are tied with teammate A.J. Brown for 17th. Brown's 2,082 yards are 14th since that time, and the Eagles duo sits in the top 20 together along with the Lions duo of Amon-Ra St. Brown-Jameson Williams, and the newly created Cowboys duo of CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens , providing some perspective for the experts are pundits who'll question Smith's lack of dominant production.
