The New York Giants were on a bye this past weekend, giving the team a chance to get some extra rest for the remainder of the season.
New York is currently sitting in first place in the NFC East, holding a record of 4-2-1 on the season. The Giants have been able to be much more competitive this year under the guidance and leadership of new head coach John Harbaugh.
Harbaugh has brought credibility and stability to this franchise, giving New York the thought of a possible playoff run. There is still a long way to go for the Giants to get into the playoffs, but this team has played fairly well so far.
However, while New York is thinking about more than just the upcoming draft right now, it's never too early to start prepping for it. So, if the NFL season ended right now, the Giants would be picking at No. 22 in the 2027 NFL Draft.
This team would love to be selecting even higher in the draft, meaning that they put together a strong season. But for New York to be in the 20-range of the draft shows how far they have come already this year.
The Giants' front office will keep scouting prospects, putting the team in a good place to draft wherever they land.
Even with starting quarterback Jaxson Dart going out for the rest of the season with an injury, New York has been able to withstand the issue. Both Jameis Winston and now J.J. McCarthy have held down the fort under center for the team, giving the Giants a chance to win.
McCarthy was recently named the starter for the team, and he has given New York a boost offensively after being traded. The signal-caller has only been with the Giants for a few weeks, but his impact can't be overstated.
The former first-round pick has played five quarters of football for the Giants, throwing for 495 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The New York offense has looked more alive with McCarthy leading it, and the team is likely to stick with him going forward.
Next up for the Giants is a road game against the rival Philadelphia Eagles, with the group trying to come out of the bye on a high note. New York can't overlook the Eagles, even with all the injuries that Philadelphia has suffered this season.
