All eyes will be on South Bend this weekend as No. 11 Notre Dame hosts No. 1 Miami in a matchup that will have major implications for the College Football Playoff.

After a shocking loss to BYU in Week 7, Notre Dame is on shaky ground. The Fighting Irish have historically struggled to gain the respect of the CFP, and a No. 11 placement in the committee's initial rankings is not reassuring. If Notre Dame wants to keep their title hopes alive, they'll need to win this game.
Miami, meanwhile, was delivered a tough blow Thursday with the news of star receiver Malachi Toney going into ankle surgery. Despite sitting at the tope of both AP and CFP weekly rankings, this marquee matchup will be much tougher in front of a rowdy Notre Dame crowd. The Canes will need to prove they're the real deal, and not just benefitting from a softer schedule.
