The Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills made a trade on Thursday involving wide receiver D.J. Moore .
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter , Chicago is trading Moore to Buffalo. Compensation is still being decided, but Moore is expected to join Josh Allen and the Bills.
"ESPN sources: the Chicago Bears are working to finalize a trade that would send WR D.J. Moore to the Buffalo Bills . Compensation still is being discussed, and the trade cannot be processed until the new league year begins, but both sides are pushing to make it happen," Schefter said.
Why did Bears and Bills pull off blockbuster trade involving D.J. Moore?
Moore's departure from Chicago felt inevitable. The Bears have two young receivers ready to break out in Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III , and tight end Colston Loveland was also an impact playmaker during his rookie season.
There just wasn't enough room for Moore anymore, and with the veteran receiver coming off a down year and being on a massive $110 million contract, trading him made a lot of sense. The Bears saved $16 million in cap space by moving on from Moore.
As for the Bills, the team desperately needed receiver help for Allen, and Moore will provide that.
The 28-year-old has tallied four 1,000-yard campaigns in his career and hasn't missed a game in five seasons. Moore should provide a much-needed boost to Buffalo's passing attack, and could potentially be the Bills' No. 1 receiver in 2026.
