Kaiser Chiefs bassist Simon Rix questioned whether Gabriel Gudmundsson is getting a "really easy ride" at Leeds United.
The Sweden international is in his second season at Elland Road.
The Whites paid out around £10million to sign the Swedish wing-back from Ligue 1 outfit Lille in the summer of 2025.
Gudmundsson is a big fan-favourite at Leeds given his ability to get up and down and be an attacking outlet down the left flank.
Indeed, there were even rumours that Chelsea were interested in taking him to Stamford Bridge over the summer.
However, Rix pondered whether Gudmundsson sometimes gets away with with criticism from supporters.
Simon Rix names concern he has with Leeds ace Gudmundsson
Rix was speaking with Jonathan Buchan on the Don't Go To Bed Just Yet Podcast, diseccting the weekend 0-0 draw at Sunderland.
He was pointing out how Leeds have a lot of joy down the right-hand side, with Jayden Bogle and James Justin providing good outlets.
However, he thinks that Gudmundsson sometimes goes under the radar for a lack of regular output down the left flank.
It was pointed out how Gudmundsson only has one Premier League assist this season, and failed to register any last term.
The 27-year-old is also yet to score in the top flight, and Rix described the returns as "pretty poor".
He said: "You get into the Gudmundsson debate, I don't want to slag off all the Leeds players off.
"But Gudmundsson, you get to that point where he's had one assist, I think two if you include he had one in the cup. But one Premier League assist.
"So, if he's your assist, creative force on the left, then he's maybe not good enough for that.
"Gudmundsson I think he gets a really easy ride, I think he was the Trusts Player of the Year last year, but he got no goals, no assists, from wing-back it's pretty poor.
"But he gets away with it because I think he works hard, and I think he looks good, and I think he's good defensively and he gets up and down."
Gabby Logan's Leeds intel leads to awkward silence in MOTD studio after draw vs Sunderland Should Leeds have a Gudmundsson worry?
Look, ideally yes, you would have way better numbers than those in terms of assists and goals.
But what Gudmundsson does so well is get Leeds driving forward, and the spaces he occupies out wide leaves gaps in the middle and uncertainty for opposition defences.
It is not merely the assists and goals he is there to provide, and it feels a little hash to say he's getting an easy ride.
It's not as though he isn't scoring or and assisting, and he's also playing terribly, is it?
The two don't have to be mutually exclusive, and for Gudmundsson they certainly aren't.
