Colombia 's first friendly match of the September-October international break will be against Mexico at the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland.
Colombia will play with players who received a call-up to the 2026 World Cup and new players making their debuts. It is also Colombia's first game without James Rodriguez , who recently retired from the national team.
What is surprising is the absence of Luis Díaz , who is not in the Colombia squad, neither in the starting XI nor on the bench.
Luis Díaz is Colombia's best player and is a star at Bayern Munich . He played in Bayern's last Bundesliga match before the international break last week, and the player is not injured.

Why Luis Díaz Won't Play for Colombia vs. Mexico
Luis Díaz is not injured, but he wasn't called up for the Colombia national team because he's resting.
Bayern Munich and the Colombian Football Federation agreed that Luis Díaz won't play in Colombia's friendly matches this international break, including the Mexico match tonight, to avoid injury risk.
Colombia head coach Néstor Lorenzo confirmed he spoke with Díaz about resting for this international break after playing last season with Bayern Munich and in the 2026 World Cup.
Lorenzo said, "I spoke with him and said: 'You look tired, Lucho. You don't have your usual sprint; what's wrong?' – And well, we agreed that he should rest this week because he has played more than 60 games."
