Georgia Bulldogs tight end Lawson Luckie shared how quarterback Gunner Stockton transforms on Saturdays. Stockton is a polite, easygoing guy during the week, but he has a different personality for football games.
Luckie revealed that Stockton was quick to correct him after missing a play call during a road game at Tennessee ,.
"When I think about Gunner (Stockton) on like a normal day to like what everyone sees on game days," Luckie said with a smile. "(I think about) When we were in the huddle and I read the wristband wrong and (Gunner Stockton) jumped up and started punching me in the head and head butting me in the huddle and I was like ... 'Gunner can flip the switch on game day.'"
Stockton's assertive leadership came up big for Georgia in the Bulldogs' first road game of the season. He crafted a clutch fourth quarter drive to help UGA win at Tennessee in overtime, which was Stockton's first road start.
Across the offseason and the regular season, Stockton earned respect from his teammates for his toughness. He constantly took big hits, including in Georgia's SEC championship win over Alabama , but he always bounced back up. Stockton's primary concern is winning and not his statistics or anything flashy like that.
His humble attitude is reflected in the car he drives: a 1984 Ford F-150 his grandfather used to own. Stockton considers it the family truck he grew up riding in.
Stockton's next opportunity to play for Georgia will be in the College Football Playoff . The Bulldogs will play in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1 against Ole Miss or Tulane.
