- Why Quintrevion Wisner Is a Perfect Fit for Florida State

Florida State does not need Quintrevion "Tre" Wisner to become a 25-carry-per-game workhorse.
What the Seminoles wanted as they were convincing Wisner to come to Tallahassee was it wanted a proven veteran capable of producing in big games, catching the football out of the backfield and providing stability to one of the deepest running back rooms in the ACC.

That's exactly what head coach Mike Norvell got in Wisner .
After a minor injury early in fall camp, Norvell confirmed Wisner will be available for Saturday's season opener against New Mexico State , clearing the way for the former Texas standout to make his Florida State debut.
Although sophomore Ousmane Kromah is projected to open the season as the starter, Wisner and redshirt junior Sam Singleton Jr. give the Seminoles a three-headed rotation capable of keeping fresh legs on the field throughout the season.
Wisner arrives with one of the most accomplished resumes of any transfer running back in college football.

Across three seasons at Texas, he appeared in 38 games with 21 starts, rushing for 1,734 yards and nine touchdowns while adding 66 receptions for 457 yards and two receiving scores. His versatility became one of his defining traits, allowing the Longhorns to keep him on the field regardless of down and distance.
Wisner had his breakout campaign during the 2024 season.
In 2024, Wisner rushed for 1,064 yards and five touchdowns while averaging 4.7 yards per carry, earning Third-Team All-SEC honors. He also rewrote the Texas record book by catching 44 passes, the most ever by a Longhorn running back in a single season.
Those numbers illustrate the type of versatility the player Wisner is.

He's not simply a downhill runner. He's comfortable in pass protection, reliable as a receiver and capable of creating explosive plays once he reaches the second level.
The consistency may be even more impressive than the raw production.
Wisner produced four 100-yard rushing performances during Texas' run to the College Football Playoff in 2024, including career highs of 186 yards against Texas A&M, 158 against Kentucky , 118 versus Oklahoma and another 110 against Clemson.
He also put together a 13-game streak spanning the 2024 and 2025 seasons with at least 50 yards from scrimmage, Texas' longest such streak since 2007.

Even in what became a reduced role during the 2025 season, Wisner still remained productive.
He totaled 597 rushing yards and three touchdowns in just nine games while adding another 146 receiving yards and a touchdown.
His signature performance came against rival Texas A&M, where he erupted for 155 rushing yards on only 19 carries. Earlier in the season, he accounted for 129 total yards against Oklahoma, again showing the dual-threat ability that has defined his college career.
The advanced metrics reinforce what the traditional statistics already suggest.
During his 2024 breakout season, Wisner posted strong rushing efficiency while forcing defenders to miss in the open field and consistently generating yards after contact. His overall offensive and rushing grades remained among the most productive marks on Texas' offense before continuing that efficiency in 2025 despite fewer carries. The numbers paint the picture of a dependable back who maximizes opportunities rather than relying strictly on volume.

That should fit perfectly within Norvell's offensive philosophy.
Florida State doesn't need Wisner to carry the offense by himself. Instead, the Seminoles can lean on Kromah's explosiveness, Singleton's speed and Wisner's experience to create matchup problems throughout a game.
Perhaps just as important is the leadership Wisner brings to Florida State's running back room.
He entered the transfer portal with NFL Draft buzz after helping Texas reach the College Football Playoff, yet chose one final collegiate season in Tallahassee. That experience, combined with 21 career starts and postseason success, gives Florida State another veteran voice in a locker room with championship aspirations.

If everyone stays healthy, Florida State may possess one of the ACC's deepest running back rotations that already was one of the top in the nation a year ago finishing 11th nationally in rushing.
Wisner doesn't have to duplicate his 1,000-yard season to make a major impact. If he provides the same reliability, versatility and veteran consistency he displayed at Texas, the Seminoles will have added far more than another running back. They'll have added one of the most complete offensive weapons available in the transfer portal.
