- Wills debuts with double-double; Hosier scores 13
Both Jacklynn Hosier and Laniah Wills were impressive in their final preseason exhibition outings Wednesday evening.
Hosier converted on 5 of 12 field goal tries, including 1-3 from 3-point range, and added six rebounds and two steals as Vermont held off Saint Michal's for a 59-49 victory at Patrick Gymnasium in Burlington.
A layup from the former Alexandria Tiger and 2025 Indiana All-Star triggered a 12-7 fourth quarter run that helped Vermont pull away.
The Catamounts are coming off a 27-8 season that included an America East Conference tournament championship and an NCAA Tournament berth. They will play their regular season opener at home Monday evening against Keene State.
Wills, meanwhile, scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as the Butler Bulldogs routed Franklin 114-26 at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
The former Lapel standout converted 5 of 9 field goals and her only free throw attempt and four of her rebounds were on the offensive end. The 2026 Indiana All-Star also handed out a pair of assists and had two steals.
Butler was 12-19 last season and opens the 2026-27 regular season Monday morning at 11 a.m. at Hinkle Fieldhouse against Tennessee Tech.
