Wisconsin greats Brad Davison, Sam Dekker react to latest commitment

Two notable Wisconsin Badgers took to social media on Saturday to react to the program's latest transfer commitment.

That commit: forward Victory Onuetu .

Onuetu joins Wisconsin after spending the 2025-26 season at Hofstra. The campaign was the Malaga, Spain, native's first at the collegiate level. He started in 17 of his 35 appearances. He averaged 17.9 minutes, 4.7 points and 6.9 rebounds while shooting 56% from the floor.

The 6-foot-10 forward previously played professional basketball overseas, most notably as Brad Davison's teammate with Monbus Obradoiro in 2024-25. He joins the Badgers with a final year of eligibility remaining.

Davison, who is on Wisconsin's coaching staff, was the first to give his thoughts on the forward's commitment.

"Boom!! Welcome to the Badger Family," Davison wrote on X. "Excited for Badger Nation to Watch Him Compete at the Highest Level."

The Wisconsin assistant was certainly a major factor in Onuetu's recruitment. The talented forward joins a frontcourt rotation led by Nolan Winter and Austin Rapp. He should compete with Rapp for starting minutes alongside Winter, assuming the veteran returns to school for his senior season.

Davison wasn't the only notable former Badger to chime in on Onuetu's commitment; Sam Dekker also took to X to share his thoughts.

"Had a chance to get to know & play with Victory in the 2024/25 season in Spain; he was a practice squad player for our club," Dekker wrote. "His raw potential was through the roof, I couldn’t get over the physicality he brought to the floor at a young age. It made me excited to see him just starting to scratch the surface before heading to the States last year. More importantly, he is a terrific kid and will be an impactful player in the ways Wisconsin hasn’t had in many years! Great job to the staff on a BIG get."

Onuetu is Wisconsin's second transfer commitment of the offseason, joining George Washington guard Trey Autry . The Badgers' work in the portal is far from over. They're still working to replace the top-end production of star guards John Blackwell and Nick Boyd.

According to Davison and Dekker, Onuetu is a strong addition to the team's rotation.
