MADISON – In beating Michigan State on Oct. 3 , Wisconsin played without two offensive starters for at least a half.
Running back Abu Sama missed the contest with an upper body injury. Center Austin Kawecki didn't play in the second half due to an apparent hand issue.
Badgers coach Luke Fickell shared an update about both players during his weekly press conference Oct. 12 at Camp Randall Stadium.
Here is what we learned.

Center Austin Kawecki has club on hand
Kawecki went down in the first half of the Michigan State game. Fickell said the fifth-year senior has a club on his right hand.
"As the week goes, we'll see what else he can do and how much he can be able to do," Fickell said.
The injury is to Kawecki's snapping hand, though Fickell quickly noted: "He's ambidextrous."
Junior Ryan Cory replaced Kawecki in the Michigan State game and would get the call again if Kawecki can't play.
