On the next episode of the DC Roundtable Podcast hosted by Tyler Lochte and Ahmed Ghafir diving into the Washington Wizards , we dive into the first seven games of the 2026-27 regular season after several highs and lows already materialized.
The Washington Wizards showed plenty of positives after taking down the Charlotte Hornets then Orlando Magic behind impressive defensive showings, a welcomed performance after months of pointing to the commitment to turning around one of the worst defensive teams over the last two seasons. It was enough to push the Wizards back above .500 overall as Washington is now off to its best start in five seasons, but we dive into the matchups and break down what we saw from the wins.
We also break down AJ Dybantsa, who has been on a tear to start his official tenure in a Wizards uniform where he has lived up to expectations as the impact piece he was tabbed to be coming out of the 2026 NBA Draft. He isn't alone as Kyshawn George has also lived up to expectations as a superstar in the making, while Trae Young's assists have all but solidified his instant impact on the Wizards' offense.
As for Young, he will now have to prepare for the first of two pivotal games for him with Wednesday marking his first reunion against the Atlanta Hawks with tipoff inside Capital One Arena set for 7 PM ET. Two days later, Young will have to hit the road to play his first game in Atlanta since he was traded from the organization. While Wednesday will also mark the first time that both CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert will return to Capital One Arena, can the Wizards keep up their hot start to pick up their third and fourth wins against divisional opponents? We discuss what to know ahead of a grueling slate of games over the next two weeks.
