In the last couple of seasons, the WNBA has experienced a massive boom, mostly on the back of the revolutionary rise of Caitlin Clark , along with stars like Angel Reese , Sabrina Ionescu , A'ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart playing their part in the women's basketball revolution. All of this created a new wave of visibility around the league. As the WNBA's profile continues to rise, so does the freedom for its stars to explore opportunities outside the game. Some of them have taken the full steam ahead in exploring the new opportunities.
And in the case of Los Angeles Sparks forward Cameron Brink , that rise and evolution also includes an open-minded look at opportunities beyond the hardwood floors, along with taking full control of her public image. Just recently, Brink made headlines by revealing that she would highly consider posing for the iconic magazine, Playboy. Still, the idea comes with one very specific and unbreakable condition: her fiancé giving it a full green light.
"Yeah, maybe!" Brink said , while also giving props to her friend Kysre Gondrezick for doing her thing in the magazine, noting how incredible she looked, before adding, "We'll see… maybe!! If my fiancé approves."
Brink could be next in line for the "mag"
Last year, it can be recalled that former professional WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick paved the way when she was announced as the publication's Miss June. And by the looks of it, Brink could be next in line for the job.
When you really look at it, the idea makes sense. The Sparks forward already has experience in modeling and has openly admitted that she was entirely naked on the set of one of her previous photoshoots. For Brink, it was just a way to express her artistic side.
"There was only gays and girls in the room, I think," the 6-foot-4 Brink said. "It wasn't an issue. I like the artistry of it all. I like shooting stuff, like, I think it's fun."
That comfort in her own skin, combined with her growing popularity, has only fueled speculation about the possible partnership between the Starks star and the world-renowned magazine.
Getting back in her own
Brink's public image has grown steadily since she entered the league as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Unfortunately, her promising rookie season was cut short after she tore her ACL in June 2024, a setback that slowed her momentum at the worst possible moment.
While her numbers have been modest as she works her way back into rhythm this season, the Stanford product is averaging 5.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 0.5 assists across 19 games played.
Still, Brink's influence clearly stretches beyond box scores and stat lines. Given her social media presence and openness about opportunities outside basketball, it's clear she's thinking about the bigger picture. And if her fiancé gives that final nod of approval, who knows, maybe we will be seeing Brink in an entirely different arena.
