WWE could be interested in AEW star Anthony Bowens, who is edging closer to free agency, with a new report revealing that the company already has interest in signing him.
Bowens has become a name to watch as his current AEW contract nears expiry. The 35-year-old has been with AEW since 2020 and has become one of the promotion's well-known talents. However, his future with Tony Khan's company remains under scrutiny.

According to Fightful Select, Bowens' current AEW contract is expected to expire on October 1. There has been no further update on whether the former AEW World Tag Team Champion will stay with the promotion or look for opportunities elsewhere after his deal ends.
That uncertainty naturally raises questions about where Bowens could go next. Now, Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Dave Meltzer said that interest within WWE persists in signing Bowens once his AEW contract expires.
Interestingly, a possible move to WWE would also bring Bowens back to where his career could have gone several years ago. In 2023, he revealed that he had actually agreed to sign with WWE in 2019 before ultimately choosing AEW.

Bowens has spent much of his AEW career as part of The Acclaimed, the tag team he forms with Max Caster. The duo captured the World Tag Team Championship. Bowens also became an AEW World Trios Champion during his time with the company.
The Acclaimed eventually broke up in 2025. Earlier this year, he joined The Opps, giving him a fresh direction.
Bowens most recently competed at All In: London, appearing during the Buy In alongside HOOK, Katsuyori Shibata, and Action Andretti. The four men faced Lio Rush and The Rascalz in an eight-man tag team match, with Bowens ultimately taking the pinfall.
