The New York Yankees are hoping to make a run at winning the American League East division, where they currently trail the Tampa Bay Rays . However, Aaron Judge is currently dealing with an injury and he was placed on the IL on Friday. Ben Rice is playing well and he will help the Yankees amid Judge's absence. Cody Bellinger is also performing at a high level. Still, the ball club could use another bat or two in the lineup. On Friday, the team announced that Jasson Dominguez will begin a rehab assignment .

The Yankees also recalled Spencer Jones from Triple-A after placing Judge on the IL. With Jones joining the team on Friday and Dominguez potentially returning from injury soon, New York's lineup may be able to find some level of success despite losing the best hitter in the game due to injury. Judge is expected to miss at least a month and possibly more time.
Dominguez was placed in concussion protocol and was also dealing with an injury after crashing into the outfield fence during a game in early May. He has been working hard to return. Assuming no setbacks occur, Dominguez could end up back in the lineup fairly soon.
Updates on Jasson Dominguez 's injury status will continue to be provided as they are made available.
The Yankees are set to begin a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox this weekend. The first contest of the series is scheduled for Friday night at 7:05 PM EST as New York looks to earn a big victory at Yankee Stadium.
