As the New York Yankees prepare for the upcoming offseason, the team has to look inward to figure out how to proceed this year.
New York was eliminated early in the playoffs again, adding another year where the iconic franchise doesn't win a World Series title. The Yankees haven't won a title since 2009, with the organization making the Fall Classic just once since then.

This franchise has the means to add more talent this offseason, but how the front office decides to go about everything remains to be seen. New York needs to put more talent around slugger Aaron Judge, before its too late.
One name that has been consistently linked to the Yankees for some time now is Japanese star Teruaki Sato, who will be coming to the United States. The slugger could provide New York with another power threat, giving Judge some extra help in the lineup.
Sato is coming off a Triple Crown season in the NPB, and teams all across the league are intrigued by his potential. Last season, Sato hit .306 with 39 home runs and 106 RBIs, and this type of production should be able to translate to the big leagues.
In a new prediction from MLB analyst Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report , the Yankees do indeed land Sato. New York has been one of the main teams linked with Sato, but it will all depend on what type of contract is offered to him.

Putting Sato into the Yankees lineup next to Judge, Cody Bellinger , and others could give New York extra power to work with. Sato could help shore up the third base position as well, helping the Yankees in the future.
In the NPB, the slugger was mainly a third baseman, but he also played some outfield in his career. This could help his negotiations with teams this offseason, as squads love to have more versatile players added to the roster.
With Sato being posted, interested teams now have a 45-day window to negotiate with Sato, and things could get intriguing this offseason. Since there is likely a lockout coming on December 1, teams could try to land Sato before the expiration of the current CBA
It remains to be seen how aggressive the Yankees will be trying to go after Sato, but he could provide this team with a lot for next season. Sato will be one of the more sought-after players this offseason, and New York will have some strong competition for his services this winter.
