The New York Giants will be without defensive lineman Chauncey Golston for the rest of the 2026 season after he suffered a neck injury.
Golston, placed on injured reserve (IR) earlier this month, is confirmed out for the year. The 28-year-old was hurt during New York's Week 4 win over the Arizona Cardinals and did not return. He finished the game with two tackles before exiting.
Early indications pointed to a long-term issue. Although Golston sought a second opinion in hopes of a better outcome, he will not be activated from IR.
The former third-round pick out of Iowa had carved out a meaningful role in his second season with the Giants after signing a three-year, $18 million deal as a free agent in 2025. He appeared in each of the team's first four games, working as a rotational piece on both base downs and in pass-rush packages while lining up at multiple spots along the defensive front.
Golston's versatility stemmed from his time in Dallas, where he developed as a flexible edge and interior contributor. His absence further thins an already taxed defensive line group.
The Giants have also lost linebacker Tremaine Edmunds to a growing list of season-ending injuries after he suffered a torn chest muscle.
New York will now need remaining defensive linemen and recent roster additions to absorb a larger share of snaps as the team moves through the middle of its schedule.
