New York Giants have handed the Dallas Cowboys another setback by bringing in a player who was recently part of their NFC East rivals' setup.
Running back Phil Mafah is signing with the Giants' practice squad, according to ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler. The move comes after Mafah's time with Dallas , where he was selected by the Cowboys in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
For the Giants, the signing adds a familiar face from their division rival's roster to their practice squad. For Dallas, it marks another development involving a player they once selected with the hope of developing him.

Phil Mafah joins Giants after Cowboys exit
Fowler broke the news on social media, revealing that Mafah will continue his NFL journey with the Giants after leaving Dallas.
"Running back Phil Mafah is signing with the Giants practice squad, per source. Mafah was Dallas' seventh-round pick in 2025."
Mafah's move to New York comes after he spent time with the Cowboys during training camp before ultimately being cut from the roster.
The running back had competed for the RB3 role in Dallas during training camp. He finished that period with 17 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown, while also recording one reception for six yards.
Mafah had also seen action for the Cowboys, playing in five games and recording 18 rushing yards and a touchdown on five carries. He added two catches for 11 yards.
Now, instead of continuing his pursuit of a spot in Dallas, Mafah will get another opportunity within the NFC East.
The Giants' decision to bring him into their practice squad gives the running back a chance to remain within the division while moving on from his time with the Cowboys.
For Dallas, meanwhile, seeing a former seventh-round selection land with the Giants adds another layer to the latest chapter between the two NFC East rivals.
