The New York Jets made two key moves prior to their game against the Tennessee Titans .
Wide receiver Tim Patrick and running back Kene Nwangwu have both been declared out for the Titans game. Patrick will be placed on injured reserve because of a groin injury. Nwangwu has a back injury and will be evaluated week to week.
Jason Sanders has been elevated from the practice squad.
Patrick was considered a supplemental receiver. A seven-year NFL veteran, he spent last year with the Jacksonville Jaguars , catching 15 passes for 187 yards and three touchdowns.
Nwangwu is the bigger loss. As the primary kick returner, he had 604 yards last season, including a touchdown. He has an overall career total of 2,640 on returns and his absence takes away a key weapon for the Jets special teams.
Patrick will be eligible for return after missing four games. His strength in run-blocking will be missed by the team.
