Derrick Rose was among those who were happy for the New York Knicks when they won their first NBA championship in 53 years this past season, since he played for them during the tail end of his career.
During a sit-down interview with Sports Illustrated, Rose said he already knew the New York Knicks would win the title when he found out they drew Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs as their Finals opponents.

"I kind of had them winning almost the entire time. My son is a Jalen fan, so he was cheering for him the whole playoffs. Yeah. I called Rick right before they got to the finals and told him that they were going to play against Wemby now. So, if they were going to play against him, they were going to win," Rose stated.

"So it worked out. And I'm just happy for Jalen (Brunson). Happy for his family, like Rick, all the time that he put into, like, his family and Jalen now and his daughter. Like, I watch from afar, but it's inspiring," he added.

New York Knicks Rumors: Bruce Brown named as a potential free agent target
The New York Knicks have been linked to veteran forward Bruce Brown, who's among the top remaining free agents this offseason. In a recent episode of Clutch Scoops, Brett Siegel likes the idea of Brown going to the Big Apple.
"There's been some talk about the Lakers wanting Bruce Brown after missing out on Kuminga, but I'm not really sure how much I believe that," Siegel said . "I would cast doubt on the Lakers. Could they make it happen? Maybe. But I would look at the Knicks as a realistic option."

"He could come in and play that Josh Hart-type role for the Knicks. I think, personally for me, that would be a really good fit," he added.
Brown played for the Denver Nuggets last season, averaging 7.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists on 47.5 percent shooting from the field across 82 regular-season appearances (four starts). The 30-year-old swingman could add to the New York Knicks second unit, especially after the departure of Mitchell Robinson.
