On Thursday, we looked back at Randolph Childress's great 1995 ACC Tournament, as Wake Forest walked away with the championship.
In 1996, Childress had moved on to the NBA, but Wake Forest still had junior Tim Duncan, who was beginning his rise to historical greatness.
The Demon Deacons made it back to the ACC Finals in March, where they squared off against a tough Georgia Tech.
The Yellow Jackets featured Stephon Marbury, Matt Harpring, and Drew Barry.
Wake Forest had an 18 point lead and was still up 11 with 2:02 left, before the Yellow Jackets rallied behind Stephon Marbury. The Yellow Jackets scored 10 straight points, but Wake's Jerry Braswell hit four clutch free throws to keep the Deacs in front.
With 18 seconds left, Duncan went to the line with Wake Forest up, 75-74, and missed both.
Marbury drove to the right side of the basket and got a shot without a hand in his face, but it hit the side of the backboard. Georgia Tech fouled Wake's Steve Goolsby with 2.3 left on the clock, but like Duncan, he, too missed both.
Barry got the ball and got a shot off as he crossed half court. It missed, and Wake had its second-straight championship.
For his part, Duncan finished with 27 points, 22 rebounds (an ACC Tournament Championship game record), 6 assists, 4 blocks, and 2 steals.
He also shot 12-16.
