The Detroit Lions have a list of nearly two dozen players on injured reserve through 15 weeks of the 2024 NFL season.
They lost another defensive player for the season Sunday when top defensive tackle Alim McNeill suffered a torn ACL in his knee during the Lions' 48-42 loss to the Buffalo Bills .
Top cornerback Carlton Davis III has a fractured jaw which requires surgery and he is out indefinitely. Davis could return if the Lions advance to the NFC championship game, to be played Jan. 26, according to an NFL Network report.
McNeill, Davis and backup cornerback Khalil Dorsey (ankle, out for season) join a lengthy list of injured defensive players on the Lions, most notably Aidan Hutchinson (broken leg).
Lions coach Dan Campbell wasn't too confident last week on Hutchinson's potential return "if he'll have the time to get there" for Super Bowl 2025, should the Lions advance for the first time ever .
And now running back David Montgomery (MCL knee injury) is expected to be lost for the season , too.
