The Detroit Lions are playing at Ford Field today for the first time in three weeks and produced another blowout against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 11 of the 2024 NFL season.
The Lions scored touchdowns on their first seven possessions en route to a 52-6 win, one of the most dominant in franchise history. Detroit returned home after playing four of the past five games on the road and successfully navigating one of the toughest stretches of their schedule. They have now won eight straight after demolishing the Jaguars by 46 points.
The Lions scored four touchdowns on all four of its first-half possessions with two rushing touchdowns from David Montgomery , a rushing touchdown from Jahmyr Gibbs and a receiving touchdown for Amon-Ra St. Brown . Jacksonville opened the half with a field goal and closed it with another, but couldn't manage much resistance outside of that.
The Lions opened the second half with two scoring drives ending in a 64-yard Jameson Williams touchdown and 5-yard Brock Wright touchdown to turn it into a blowout. Goff hit St. Brown for his second touchdown at the start of the fourth quarter and Jake Bates added a 54-yard field goal.
The Lions finished with 644 total yards, setting the franchise record for most in a game, and came three points shy of the most points in a game in franchise history. The 644-yard total is also the 10th-most by any team in a game in NFL history. Detroit has now scored 52 points in two straight home games.
Lions middle linebacker and defensive captain Alex Anzalone left early in the first half with a forearm injury and was ruled out after halftime.
The Lions kept the winning streak alive by the skin of their teeth last week against the Houston Texans , overcoming a 16-point halftime hole for a last-second win on a game-winning kick by Jake Bates , but had no issues pushing the number to eight this Sunday. With the win, the Lions set the franchise record for the longest single-season winning streak in the Super Bowl era, and inch one step closer to the overall record, 10, set by the 1934 Lions.
The Jaguars have now lost four straight to drop to an NFL-worst 2-9.

Detroit Lions vs. Jacksonville Jaguars game recap, highlights
7:49, 4Q Lions add Jake Bates 54-yard FG to go up 52-6
The touchdown streak ended at seven. Detroit put in the backups on offense and quarterback Hendon Hooker led the second unit to the Jacksonville 36, but led Allen Robinson into a big hit with his third-down throw, leading to an incompletion. Kicker Jake Bates stepped up for his first non-extra point or kickoff duty of the afternoon and easily split the uprights to move to 15-for-15 on field goals as a Lion.
13:27, 4Q: Goff hits St. Brown for his 2nd TD catch; Lions lead 49-6
The Lions' offense is still batting 1.000. After Kerby Joseph 's interception, Jahmyr Gibbs ripped off two runs for a combined 23 yards and then Goff connected with St. Brown twice for a 23-yard and 22-yard gain to reach the red zone. After a 13-yard completion to Tim Patrick , Goff threaded a needle to St. Brown in the corner of the end zone for his fourth touchdown pass. The Lions drove 96 yards in just 1:37 with nine plays thanks to three gains of at least 20 yards.
Goff is having the best game of his Detroit Lions career. He has completed 24 of 29 passes for 412 yards, four touchdowns and a perfect quarterback rating, setting a Detroit record for yardage to pass a previous high of 378 against the Seahawks in 2022.
2:26, 3Q: Kerby Joseph hauls in 7th INT of season; Lions lead 42-6
Kerby Joseph came into the week tied for the most interception in the NFL at six and just pulled the ball away from tight end Luke Farrell for his seventh to jump into the league lead. The Jaguars put together their most productive drive of the second half to reach scoring range, but Mac Jones floated it to Farrell to get it over Brian Branch , but that gave enough time to Joseph to cut in front for the takeaway.
4:16, 3Q: Goff finds Brock Wright for 6-yard TD; Lions lead 42-6
The Lions are now 6-for-6 in turning offensive drives into touchdowns. The Lions defense forced a Jacksonville three-and-out on their first second-half possession and drove 83 yards in 14 plays to take eight minutes off the clock, and ended with Goff scanning and hitting a wide-open Brock Wright in the corner of the end zone. Detroit slowly moved the ball downfield, with only two gains longer than 10 yards, but consistently picked up enough for a fresh set of downs every three plays to continue the offensive clinic.
12:55, 3Q: Jameson Williams breaks free for 64-yard TD; Lions lead 35-6
Detroit started the second half picking up where they left off before halftime. On the fourth play of the drive, Jared Goff found Williams in a tight window over the middle, and he turned on his jets and torched the Jags safety to get the edge and race down the right sideline for a 64-yard touchdown. The Lions are now 5-for-5 on scoring touchdowns on their offensive drives.
2:53, 2Q: Jared Goff finds Amon-Ra St. Brown for 27-yard TD; Lions lead 28-3
Detroit is not taking their foot off the glass as they build a commanding first-half lead. The Lions forced another quick Jacksonville three-and-out after playing perfect coverage on a trio of deep shots, and immediately added a touchdown. On the first play of the drive, Goff swung it quickly to Jahmyr Gibbs, who followed a lead block from Jameson Williams in motion for a 54-yard gain, and then Goff hit St. Brown on a crosser against a blitz two plays later, and he split away from the coverage for the 27-yard score. St. Brown has scored a touchdown in eight straight games to set a franchise record.
6:39, 2Q: David Montgomery lumbers in for 2nd TD; Lions lead 21-3
The Lions are taking care of business early. After forcing another Jacksonville punt in a defensive possession filled with big hits from the secondary, the Lions started the third drive from their 36 and reached the end zone again. Detroit opened things up with a hook-and-lateral completion to Amon-Ra St. Brown, who then pitched it to Jameson Williams for 12 yards. Montgomery took over from there and churned out two first downs, followed by a completion to St. Brown for 12 yards, a Jared Goff naked bootleg for 11 yards, and a 6-yard touchdown run from Montgomery. Penei Sewell helped push Montgomery over the line.
12:32, 2Q: Jahmyr Gibbs spins free for Lions TD; Detroit leads 14-3
The Lions forced a three-and-out on Jacksonville's second possession and took over at their own 7 for the second possession. The drive started with Goff hitting Amon-Ra St. Brown to convert a third-and-3, followed by an 18-yard completion to him to move outside of the shadows of their own goal post. On the next set of downs, the Lions reached fourth-and-1 from their own 45 and converted with a 3-yard quarterback sneak from Goff. He then hit Jameson Williams for a 24-yard gain on a crossing route, and Gibbs put them in a red zone with a 23-yard run to the left. Two plays later, Gibbs spun out of a tackle in the middle and outran the Jacksonville defense to the left pylon for a touchdown.
4:59, 1Q: Lions respond with David Montgomery TD to take 7-3 lead
The Lions answered with a nine-play, 70-yard scoring drive to find the end zone and take the lead. Jared Goff started the drive with a 22-yard completion to Shane Zylstra along the sidelines and Montgomery picked up the next two first downs with a 5-yard run and a 5-yard catch. An 11-yard completion to Amon-Ra St. Brown moved the offense inside the Jags' 10-yard line, and Montgomery bursted through a hole on the left side of the line for a 7-yard touchdown run.
9:36, 1Q: Jags hit 59-yard FG on opening drive; Lions trail 3-0
The Lions won the coin toss and elected to defer, putting the Jags' offense on the field first. Backup quarterback Mac Jones picked up two first downs with short completions to tight ends Brenton Strange and Evan Engram to move into Detroit territory. But the Lions stuffed a Travis Etienne run and forced a third-down completion to get off the field. Kicker Cam Little , Jake Bates' kicking partner in college at the University of Arkansas, hit a 59-yard field goal to give Jacksonville the early lead.
Lions injury report: TE Sam LaPorta out
As expected, tight end Sam LaPorta is out as he recovers from a shoulder injury suffered last week against the Texans. The other Lions' inactive include S Loren Strickland , OLs Giovanni Manu , Christian Mahogany and Colby Sorsdal and DL Al-Quadin Muhammad .
The Jaguars are without Lawrence, RB Tank Bigsby , CB De'Antre Prince, LB Yasir Abdullah , DT Esezi Otomewo and DT Maason Smith .
Za'Darius Smith arrives in Rasheed Wallace jersey
Defensive end Za'Darius Smith showed up to Ford Field ahead of his first game as a Lion rocking a Rasheed Wallace Detroit Pistons jersey, a tribute to one of the most successful trades in all of Detroit sports history. Smith, who the Lions traded for two weeks ago, is hoping to have a similar career arc in Detroit as Wallace, who ended up being the final piece necessary to push the Pistons to their most recent NBA championship in 2004.
Lions vs. Jaguars pregame notes
The Lions have found every way to win over this seven-game streak and will have a chance to cement franchise history with another win Sunday. The offense is looking to get back on track after struggling through the win over Houston. Jared Goff wants to rebound after throwing a career-high five interceptions, and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson wants better down-to-down execution .
The Lions will be at full strength on offense again with Taylor Decker returning, and will also get a pass rush boost from Za'Darius Smith in his Lions debut . Tight end Sam LaPorta (shoulder) is out, but other key contributors are set to go, including left tackle Taylor Decker , who missed last week.
The Jaguars are limping into the game on a losing streak and without their regular quarterback. Jacksonville, coached by Doug Pederson, is in contention for the first overall pick for the third time in the past five years after mixing lots of excruciating close losses with a few blowouts. Last week, the Jaguars jumped ahead of the Vikings early, but never scored again in the 12-7 defeat. Jones was 14-for-22 for 111 yards and two interceptions.

Lions vs. Jaguars prediction
Dave Birkett, Detroit Free Press : Coaches can give all the lip service they want to this being the NFL, and not taking opponents for granted, and the other guys getting paid, too. The reality is, though, the Lions might be the best team in the NFL, and the Jaguars might be the worst. They've played several close games, including against the Vikings, Eagles and Packers the past three weeks, but they also are starting a backup quarterback and were blown out on the road by the best offense they faced (the Buffalo Bills ). If the protection is there, Goff should have a big day and the defense seems poised for another few takeaways in a game that should be over by the third quarter. The pick: Lions 38, Jaguars 17.
