Florida A&M wide receiver Jamari Gassett and tight end Jeremiah Pruitte can widen their path to the National Football League next month.
The Rattlers ' offensive duo has been invited to Feb. 17's HBCU NFL Combine at the Ochsner Performance Center, the practice facility for the New Orleans Saints . The Black College Football Hall of Fame and the NFL hosts the showcase event.
Gassett and Pruitte's invites come after their senior football seasons, in which they helped FAMU to a 7-5 record under first-year head coach James Colzie III . FAMU's HBCU Combine invitees also assisted the Rattlers in their Black College Football National Championship run in 2023 .
Gassett, who transferred to FAMU from Buffalo in 2023, finished his college football career with 119 receptions for 1,649 yards and 13 touchdowns. Gassett was an All-Southwestern Athletic Conference second-teamer in 2024 after nabbing 52 receptions for 737 yards and seven touchdowns.
Pruitte transferred to FAMU from Colorado State and converted from wide receiver to tight end. During college, Pruitte caught 37 passes for 415 yards and five touchdowns. Before the 2024 season, Pruitte was also named to the Senior Bowl watchlist.
The HBCU NFL Combine has benefited FAMU players, such as former Rattlers receiver Xavier Smith . In 2023, Smith had a good showing at the HBCU Combine and is now in his second NFL season with the Los Angeles Rams .
FAMU football will also have an on-campus Pro Day this spring so NFL scouts can further assess its players.
The 2025 NFL Draft runs from Thursday, April 24 to April 26.
