- Jalen Milroe was 'best version of myself' in Alabama football vs Georgia
Jalen Milroe didn't want to take credit for the day he had for Alabama football against Georgia.
Facing a Bulldogs defense that had not allowed a touchdown through its first three games, Milroe scored four times and accumulated 491 of the Crimson Tide 's 547 total yards. But after Alabama's narrow 41-34 win Saturday night , it was about his "great coaching staff that believes in me," the "teammates that believe in me."
"You know, I try to do my best," Milroe said. "Any play call that's asked of me, just try and maximize that play call as much as possible and be the best version of myself each and every day."
That "best version of myself" gave the Alabama offense a performance that not many teams see against Georgia, one Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer called "exceptional."
But it was a performance DeBoer saw coming, saying he felt Milroe was in "a little bit of a rhythm" after the Wisconsin game.
"It doesn't mean he's perfect, but man, he's a weapon out there," Milroe said. "And he's doing it both through the air and with his feet. He's tough to game plan against when you're on the other side.
"When he needed to put the ball somewhere, I really felt like his accuracy, and that goes to his timing, the rhythm, the confidence, the belief that he has in his receivers and whoever's catching the pass."
Milroe's 374 passing yards were a career high, and only the second time he's surpassed 300 yards in a game after he threw for 321 against Texas A&M in Oct. 7, 2023.
With Saturday's four-touchdown performance, Milroe has scored four or more touchdowns in each of his first four games in 2024.
"All the hard work you're going to do in the dark is going to shine at some point," Milroe said. "And it came out and shined today."
