The Detroit Lions entered Sunday afternoon in Week 15 facing their biggest test of the season vs. the Buffalo Bills in a potential Super Bowl 2025 preview.
So far, they're failing that test through the first half. At least defensively.
The Bills scored touchdowns on their first three possessions, with MVP favorite Josh Allen scoring twice and James Cook giving them a 21-7 lead midway through the second quarter. Allen was untouched on his second score, a 4-yard keeper, and Cook was not touched on his 6-yard sprint with 8:15 to play before half.

"It's a clinic right now," CBS commentator Tony Romo said after Cook's touchdown.
Tim Patrick 's 12-yard touchdown after a Jared Goff scramble had brought the Lions within 14-7 at 13:36 of the second quarter.
The Lions then ran a trick play on their next possession with Jared Goff tossing to offensive tackle Dan Skipper for a 9-yard catch-and-run touchdown to bring the Lions back within a touchdown, 21-14 at 3:01 left in the half.
That prompted Free Press longtime Lions beat writer Dave Birkett to tweet : "This is gonna make a hell of a Super Bowl."
The Bills then drove right down the field on a 64-yard pass from Allen to rookie Keon Coleman , but the Lions defense held Buffalo to a field goal, but Tyler Bass missed the 24-yard field goal wide right with 1:47 to play in the half. Bass might have been iced after injury delay, when Lions cornerback Khalil Dorsey was carted off with a leg injury .
