The 2024 Detroit Lions on Sunday etched another spot for themselves in the franchise history books.
The Lions' 52-6 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Ford Field gave them an eight-game win streak, setting the franchise record for most wins in a row in a single season in the Super Bowl era (beginning in 1966). They scored touchdowns on their first seven possessions of the game, the first NFL team to do so since the 2007 New England Patriots (who went 16-0), and set a franchise record with 645 total yards on offense.
The Lions (9-1) last lost in Week 2 on Sept. 15 at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 20-16 .
The Lions are now within shouting distance of the best winning streak of any point in the franchise history, regardless of era. The 1934 Lions, playing their first season in Detroit , hold the all-time franchise winning streak at 10 games.
Detroit surpassed the previous mark of seven straight wins set by the 1991 and 1995 Lions in a stretch of making the playoffs four times in five seasons.

The Lions won nine in a row between two seasons, at the end of 2010 and start of 2011.
The Lions tied the franchise record for most wins in the season in 2023, going 12-5, and have a great chance of raising that bar over the final two months. They are 9-1 with seven games to play, including four at home.
Here's a quick look at the last Lions team to accomplish this long of a winning streak, 90 years ago.
1934 Lions
After spending the first four years of franchise history in Ohio as the Portsmouth Spartans, the franchise moved north to Detroit in 1934 and changed the team name to the Lions to match the big cat theme set by the Tigers in Major League Baseball. Former team owner G.A. Richards and a group of Detroit businessmen made the decision .
The Lions played at the University of Detroit Stadium, located where the Detroit Mercy campus currently sits in Northwest Detroit on McNichols Rd, and practiced at Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook High School.
In their first season in Detroit, the Lions christened their new home by winning the first 10 games . They won the first seven games by shutout before giving up their first points in a 40-7 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates (no, not the baseball team but the original name for the Steelers ). Six of those wins came at home, including a Week 10 win over the St. Louis Gunners, 40-7.
But that ended up being the last win for their inaugural Detroit season. The Lions lost the final three games to the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears twice. They finished second in the NFL West at 10-3 behind the undefeated Bears, meaning they did not play for the NFL championship, which the New York Giants won over the Bears.
The Lions responded by winning the 1935 championship, their first of four .
