Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown dyes hair blue again: 'We've got something special going'

Amon-Ra St. Brown is feeling blue again.

St. Brown , the Detroit Lions' All-Pro wide receiver, dyed his hair blue during last week's bye and will rock the new look for Saturday's playoff opener against the Washington Commanders.

St. Brown dyed his hair blue before the playoffs last year after pledging to do so in the postseason if the Lions make the playoffs.

Asked Tuesday if his hair color helped him hit another level on the field, St. Brown said, "Shoot, I wish it was tapping into an extra mode, if I was a superhero."

"But nah," he said. "It’s just the playoffs. It’s a fun thing for me to do. We made the playoffs. Why not? Let’s go do it."

The Lions won both their home playoff games last winter, beating the Los Angeles Rams in the wild-card game and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the divisional round before losing on the road to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC championship. St. Brown caught 22 passes for 274 yards and one touchdown in those games.

This year, the Lions need just two postseason wins to reach their first ever Super Bowl. If they beat the Commanders, they'll host the winner of Sunday's Rams-Philadelphia Eagles game next week.

"It’s an exciting time in Detroit, it’s been for the last few years," St. Brown said. "We’ve got something special going.

"We got to keep going, obviously, but I feel like we have a lot of things to root for on this team. A lot of players, coaches, whatever it may be, and the fans deserve it. I feel like our team is pretty unique."

Goff thinking about wildfire victims

Lions quarterback Jared Goff said his home has not been impacted by the deadly wildfires that continue to rage across southern California.

"It’s horrible, obviously, what’s going on there in L.A. and it’s somewhere that’s been a home for Christen and I, so we have a house there and we’re OK, we’re safe," Goff said Tuesday. "All my family and friends are safe, but so many people, obviously, tragically lost everything, lives were lost and I’m thinking about them all week.

"It’s been tough watching from afar, but I know they’ll fight back, come back stronger.”

Goff posted a message on Instagram this week asking for people impacted by the wildfires to send their Amazon wishlists to his wife, Christen.

In the post, Goff said they would help provide necessities to those in need.

"I think Christen’s doing a great job, a lot of her friends are doing a great job," he said Tuesday. "The whole city really is coming together. It’s always horrible to see but seeing people come together like this is nice.”

As of Tuesday, at least 24 people have been killed and more than 12,000 homes and business have been destroyed or damaged by the fires, according to USA Today.
