Miami Dolphins select OL Armand Membou of Missouri in ESPN NFL Mock Draft: Who is he?
The most pressing Miami Dolphins ' need in the 2025 NFL Draft is a guard or guards.
General manager Chris Grier must hit on a guard i n the first three rounds of the April NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin, ideally in Rounds 1 or 2.
Many NFL mock drafts have the Dolphins selecting a player who was a tackle in college but projects to guard in the NFL.
That versatility and flexibility should be viewed as a positive, and the Dolphins likely would.
In the latest NFL mock draft 2025 by Matt Miller of ESPN, the Dolphins select Armand Membou of Missouri , who can play tackle or guard, with the 13th overall pick.
"The Dolphins' main priority in 2025 should be giving quarterback Tua Tagovailoa more protection. Protecting from the inside out is crucial, and Miami has a hole at right guard," Miller wrote. "Membou played right tackle at Mizzou and is an excellent mover in the run game at 6-foot-4 and 332 pounds, making him perfect for the Dolphins' run scheme. Some scouts believe he is the best pure tackle in the class, so kicking him outside in the future could be an option if current right tackle Austin Jackson leaves after his contract expires in two seasons."
In 2024, the Dolphins surely evaluated Troy Fautanu of Washington , a tackle/guard. But the Steelers selected Fautanu one spot ahead of Miami, at pick No. 20.
Last year, the Dolphins surely also evaluated Graham Barton of Duke , a tackle/guard/center. Miami passed on Barton for standout edge rusher Chop Robinson , and Barton was selected by the Bucs at No. 26 overall.
Miami had success in 2020, when the Dolphins selected tackle Robert Hunt of Louisiana-Lafayette and he became a Pro Bowl guard, albeit with the Panthers after leaving via free agency.
This year, there are a handful of excellent college tackles who scouts also believe can play guard, including Will Campbell of LSU, Kelvin Banks of Texas and Jonah Savaiinaea of Arizona.
The Dolphins must very stronglyconsider Will Campbell, Kelvin Banks, Armand Membou and/or Jonah Savaiinaea if available with the 13th overall pick.
The Dolphins cannotsucceed in 2025 without improved guard play.
And if their first-round pick is also capable of playing tackle — even better.
What is Armand Membou height and weight?
Armand Membou is 6-foot-4, 332 pounds.
Where is Armand Membou from?
Armand Membou is from Lee's Summit, Missouri.
How old is Armand Membou?
Armand Membou is 20 and turns 21 on March 27.
What are Armand Membou's scouting report strengths?
Scouts say Membou is athletic, agile and quick. And they say he finished his blocks with an edge.
The Dolphins need more linemen who finish blocks with an edge.
Membou is fluid and a potential major contributor in the run game.
"He possesses a punishing, powerful demeanor in the run game," wrote Kyle Crabbs of 33rd Team . "Membou has enough foot speed and length to play on the perimeter in the right scheme, and his anchor is stout when he’s sitting up on his hips. But his floor and ceiling will likely be higher on the interior, where the fringes of his blocking radius will be insulated, and he’ll be less stressed with speed off the edge. He’s capable of tremendous leg drive, a heavy punch, and the ability to create and sustain displacement at the point of attack."
Crabbs' pro comparison for Membou is ... Robert Hunt.
What are Armand Membou's scouting report weaknesses?
Scouts wonder if Membou's measurables make him a better fit for guard or tackle.
Some have said Membou matches better with speed than power. Perhaps this means he's a better fit for a zone blocking scheme, which the Dolphins operate.
Membou can add overall strength and can refine some techniques.
"His most conspicuous flaw is his ability to hunker down against larger, longer, leg-churning pass rushers going through his chest. That flaw does not exist in the same way against less dense pass rushers trying to run through a brick wall from wide rushing alignments," wrote Dalton Miller of Pro Football Network , who actually prefers Membou at tackle.
What is Armand Membou NFL Draft projection?
Armand Membou is projected to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.
NFL draft: Would Miami Dolphins be interested in Senior Bowl practice standout Grey Zabel?
Will the Miami Dolphins draft Armand Membou?
Grier almost always selects the best available player. If there is a safety or tight end or cornerback or edge rusher or defensive tackle on the board that Grier values much higher than Membou, he will resist a reach.
But the Dolphins really, really, really need to consider even a slight "reach" for an offensive lineman in Round 1.
If Miami passes on an offensive lineman in Round 1, the Dolphins should focus 95 percent of their attention on an offensive lineman in Round 2.
Grier knows he needs linemen to protect Tua Tagovailoa .
All options, including Membou, will be heavily evaluated by Grier, coach Mike McDaniel , offensive coordinator Frank Smith and offensive line coach Butch Barry.
